Studying architectural engineering

Architectural engineering degrees combine the creative elements of architecture with the practical sides of building engineering, creating graduates who can enjoy successful careers in designing and engineering buildings, cities, urban landscapes and other human-made things – i.e., the built environment. You’ll cover topics like architectural technology, building surveying, construction, project management, quantity surveying and civil engineering, and may get the chance to gain practical experience during placements, real-work projects and industry events. Most courses will also give you access to specialist equipment and facilities like studios, labs, CAD software, 2D and 3D software, building performance analysis programs and immersive vision theatres. There’s an increasing demand for architects and engineers with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills in roles in areas like architectural engineering, design management, project management and consultancy.
