Working with furniture is a hands-on journey into the world of functional design. Students will cover every aspect of the design process from initial ideas and sketches, through to visualisation and modelling, materials choices, construction techniques and final touches. It is a timeless craft which balances aesthetics, innovation and utility. At postgraduate level, students can further develop their education into areas such as sustainable design or entrepreneurship and can go on to build careers as a furniture designer, interior designer, product developer, or design consultant. In their professional work, furniture designers have opportunities to collaborate with many other professionals, like artists, engineers, architects and fashion designers.
