Studying meteorology will give you an understanding of the branch of science that’s concerned with the atmosphere and its phenomena, including the weather and climate. You’ll learn about predicting changes in the weather and climate, tackling some of the biggest issues faced by our planet today, such as severe weather events, greenhouse gases and climate change. You’ll work with complex data to forecast how the earth will behave in the future in a hands-on and practical way that may also include doing a placement in industry. Climate change is causing extreme weather that’s expected to get even worse, therefore, the world needs people who understand meteorology. Graduates can go into a variety of positions, including working as meteorologists, research scientists, scientific journalists, teachers and lecturers.
