Studying horticulture

Studying horticulture at uni will teach you about the art, science, technology and business of growing and caring for plants. Your course may also cover the production of fruit, vegetables and flowers, as well as look at the design and upkeep of parks, gardens and natural landscapes. You’ll explore the various aspects of horticulture, such as the science of plants, crop production and sustainability, and may get the chance to do an internship or work placement as part of the course. As part of your learning, you could work in labs, research glasshouses and other specialist facilities. Once graduated, possible careers can be found in areas like horticultural consultancy, crop production, glasshouse management and research.
