Studying children’s nursing

A children’s nursing degree will give you the skills, knowledge and confidence to work in a childcare environment, usually combining learning theory and gaining practical experience throughout the course. During your studies, you’ll develop important child communication skills, as well as cover topics like health and wellbeing, social care, and medicines, giving you the tools needed for this rewarding career. As a children's nurse, you’ll be a specialist in your field and will be able to find jobs in areas like paediatric nursing, social work, child psychology, counselling and midwifery. When you finish your undergraduate course, there’s also the opportunity for further studies, allowing you to learn more about the subject in general or specialise in an area like children’s mental health.
