Nice to study in this college, I enjoyed the satisfying learning methods. I also impressed with the affective lecture, who care about us. Friendly and fast responses from the staff are so helpful.

It is a great place to study for those who care about academic achievements and excellence. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. They are keen for your success and they actively try to cater for international students.
Excellent and quality presentation by all standards. The course was entirely online but was generally good. The lecturers give timely feedback and are willing to assist at any time.
I am extremely grateful to Al-maktoum College for giving me the opportunity to attend college. To date, my overall experience has been incredible, and it has given a lot of value to my life.

Good online sessions Needs better use of short videos to explain concepts.
Better slides need to be made. With clear progression. And building on the previous slides.
Growing up in Ghana, a country which is a repository of rich and diverse cultures and with more than fifty indigenous tribes and languages, I have met people from all walks of life, an experience that has given me a privilege of learning a great deal of stuff but enrolling at Al-Maktoum college was a game-changer for me. Al-Maktoum college is one of the best places to study because it is a place where potential and ability is valued over background or ethnicity. The well-structured curriculum provides students with in-depth knowledge in whatever discipline they choose to study. The teaching staff are always willing to help students in whatever difficulties the student is facing, being it academic or personal. And they are always very understanding and supportive. The non-teaching staff have created a kind and comfortable environment in the college. You receive a reply within 24 hour whenever you send an email to any office.
The professional diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance has 20-credit units compromising 200 hours of learning; this is made up of 40 hours of teaching and 160 hours of independent study. Classes are made up of lectures, seminars and tutorials and you will have 2 hours of contact teaching per week. The online teaching is excellent and challenging; the instructors offer learning through discussion, question and answers, real-time projects, research and lecturing. I learn new stuff every day I have attended classes since I joined the college.
Dundee is a top fun place to be a student in the UK and one of the best cities to study globally.
Firstly, an explanation my 'star rating' choices. As an online-only student, there are factors which don't apply. However, leaving these unmarked lowers the final rating to two stars, which in no way reflects my time with Al-Maktoum College. In order to end up with the 5-star rating I feel the college deserves, I've had to give ratings to factors which are not part of my life e.g. Students' Union. What has made Al-Maktoum a great experience for me is the dedication of the two lecturers I have known. Their dedication is second-to-none as regards preparation of materials, speedy marking of homework, enthusiasm and sense of fun in class and willingness to be on hand for whatever extra help one needs, whether this be staying behind after class to answer questions; answering questions sent by email; providing useful feedback for every piece of homework marked. The stamina of the lecturers is something to behold. Before retiring, I was a teacher but had the luxury of changing students every 30 mins. Our lectures are, in comparison, huge in length - 3+ hours and, although a feat of concentration for a student, this is much more impressive from the lecturers who hold the reins. The materials provided by the department are excellent - and free! Although there is a recommended reading list for further study, we have not had to buy additional materials. The files are uploaded to Moodle and available for us to download, save, print etc throughout the course. This, I find, is also a good way of appreciating the overall architecture of the course, which would not be so evident in the first weeks, or even thereafter if the materials were replaced each week. The course is hugely stimulating and I'm more convinced than ever of the 'use-it-or-lose-it' benefits of intensive study for my 62-year-old brain. Moreover, the international mix of students on the course makes for a fun and stimulating environment in which to study.
The course is entirely online. Several of the students are thousands of miles away. I'm happy with this too. I'd rather spend time studying than travelling to college. The course takes place over three consecutive mornings per week. We have one week to complete homework so there are no last-minute surprises and no panic. There are two longer-term components to the course - a writing assignment and a presentation and we have weeks to work on these. It's definitely a tough course but, if one keeps an eye on the passage of time, and looming declines, there's no reason for the fun side of things to be spoiled by avoidable panic.
This is my second year studying at Al-Maktoum College and both courses were studying Arabic as a Foreign Language. Unfortunately due to the pandemic a majority of the learning was online but that saying the lessons were still valuable. However I did manage to squeeze a few lessons in the college when restrictions were eased. The college and staff are very accommodating. Every time I had a query it was satisfactorily resolved with a good time scale. My lecturer is very passionate about teaching the subject and that is evident. Extra lessons were available, which I utilised and that was to encourage the student passing all aspects of the course and is a keen vision the college has. Dundee is a beautiful city and the location of Al-Maktoum college is central with Dundee University, the city centre, mosques and teaching hospitals all close by. I highly recommend studying at Al-Maktoum where you can gain a reputable high education qualification.
It is amazing what you can learn from a foreign language and how quickly you can start conversing with natives. Yes like all languages, Arabic was difficult to learn but enjoyable and that is what makes it all worthwhile. We have an amazing lecturer who is very passionate about teaching. They listen, care and are very professional ensuring that the students get the maximum benefit from the course.
Al-Maktoum college is diverse and inclusive for all and provides students with an amazing advantage through in depth learning and continuous support. Small class sizes and attentive lecturers and staff put this college above the rest. I would say the only way it could improve is by advertising it’s course on a wider scale and explaining the benefits to a small class size.
With flexible and online learning, this course has been ideal for me as I don’t live local which allows me to be able to keep with study and lecturers wherever I am. Units of this course are spread evenly and the availability of lectures makes it easier to ask questions and ensure your understanding of the subjects covered. Small classes sizes have given opportunities for lecturers to be able to answer all questions and group discussions to be inclusive.
My overall experience has been very positive. I've learned a lot so far and have met many good people. The college has a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere which is conducive to better learning, in my opinion.
Al-Maktoum College has great facilities at students' disposal. The library is very well equipped with a varied and interesting selection. Furthermore the classrooms have CleverTouch smart boards which aid the delivery of lessons and allow more student interaction. There is an IT Suite and plenty space for quiet study - as well as a comfortable common room and student hub which gives students a place to relax and unwind in the beautiful college grounds.
The support is excellent here at Al-Maktoum - the lecturers are patient and approachable and always happy to take extra time to explain things when needed. Feedback to course work and assessments is prompt and useful. Personal support is also available and the college always ensure that students know this and know how to get support if they need it.
Yes - it is only a few minutes walk to the nearest shops or a 10 minute walk to the city center. There is plenty accommodation in the area as well as cafes, bakeries etc.
I like the small class sizes as it allows plenty interaction with the teachers which is great for someone like me who is usually full of questions. The lecturers are generally very organised and provide the relevant materials which makes self-study much easier.

Many of the skills learned through my course are transferable and highly sought after in the job market - skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving are all examples of this and studying here has definitely increased my proficiency in these areas.
As a matter of fact I really enjoyed the time I spent at the Al-Maktoum college and I am still having a good time. While doing my professional diploma I was able to sickbed potential areas I can further my education on and this is a memory I will continue to cherish. In general it was an unforgettable and sweet experience.
I started my program in Al-Maktoum college September 2019. I am really enjoying the program due to the facilities available in the college. The class rooms are conducive and the number of students in each class is moderate which makes teaching and learning interesting. The supporting materials we get from our tutors both in class and online motivate us read ahead. The modern library in the college is one of the best in the UK with materials that can help students in preparation of exam as well as further academic research. Some of the materials I saw inthe Al-Maktoum college library really motivated me to draft a proposal for my phd which I intend to submit after successfully completing my professional Diploma. Personally reading is my hobby and I always find the college conducive. Furthermore, the method of assessment used in the college helps a lot in preparing students not just for exams but for further academic pursuit. There are other facilities available at the college that helps in making students comfortable like the common room where students can go for a break to have coffee or just to relax. It is worthy of mention that the Al-Maktoum college has a medical facility which is available for both students and staff of the college, this medical facility helps in managing medical cases including emergencies and this helps a lot as it saves the cost of students going to spend their income in buying medications. My experience in the college is undoubtedly a memorable one because I was able to get the best from the college and I am still getting that.
The Al-Maktoum College tutors are very supportive and always give as much feedback as possible in terms of assessment and also provide the student with counselling and advice.
Al-Maktoum college is centrally located and this makes it easier for pupil residing in any part of the city. It located close to both the students accommodation and the city centre.
The method of delivery is well organised and this makes learning very interesting
