Is there the option to study abroad at this uni?
This is my final year at Northampton & I can generally say that it's a good Uni. Good facilities, helpful lectures as well as experienced and well connected. I will definitely give the Uni a round of applause for it's library selections and areas.
As one of the youngest universities in the UK, the University of Northampton has already made a name for itself due to its social impact, as it was named a Changemaker Campus in 2013. The university also boasts a modern campus, opened in 2018, giving students access to contemporary, top-of-the-range learning facilities.
If you’re interested in sports at university, the University of Northampton offers students fully-funded sports clubs and societies, allowing students to participate for free, and the university will even provide free kit to facilitate participation.
Every undergraduate student at the University of Northampton receives a laptop to assist their studies, as well as access to funding for study trips. Students also receive a guaranteed graduate internship, all included in the standard course fees.
Northampton itself has a lot to offer students as well. It blends city life with the countryside seamlessly, offering you the best of both worlds. The campus is just a short walk from the city, which offers pubs, clubs, restaurants, theatre houses and excellent shopping facilities, including a range of independent shops.
The city has easy connections across the UK, including to London and Birmingham. As well as national links, the university also benefits from its proximity to multiple international airports, making worldwide travel a breeze.
The university offers a range of options for students, including Integrated foundation year (also known as Year 0), online study and part-time study options to widen participation in higher education. Many of the distance and online courses the university offers are recognised by professional bodies, giving students the reassurance that their distance learning course is valuable. Most degrees at the University of Northampton feature a high number of optional modules, allowing students to customise their degree and study particular areas of their subject that fits their interests and career aspirations.
We have summarised some typical entry requirements for a variety of courses to help you decide if the University of Northampton is likely to be a good fit for you.
For BA Animation a typical offer would be BCC at A-level, Pass (C and above) at T-level, or DMM if you’re studying BTECs. Students will also be asked to provide a portfolio.
If you’re interested in BSc Engineering, however, typical offers are DDE at A-level (including physics), Pass (C and above) at T level, or MMP for BTEC students. Applicants for this course should also have GCSE maths at grade C/4 or above or a Level 2 equivalent.
BA Psychology and Criminology applicants can expect to receive offers for BCC at A-level or DMM BTEC Extended Diploma. A GCSE in maths at grade C/4 or higher should also be held. Domestic alternatives to GCSE maths are not considered aside from Access applicants.

First-year, full-time students are guaranteed a place in the University of Northampton’s Halls of Residence, subject to terms and conditions. The university has over 2,000 rooms split across three sites. Each site has a range of rooms to meet a variety of budgets. You’ll have the choice between ensuite and shared bathroom as well as twin or single rooms. The university also has the option of studio flats for students who don’t wish to share kitchen and living facilities.
All halls at the University of Northampton include utility bills, internet, kitchen supplied with appropriate appliances, laundry facilities, waste collection, 24-hour security and room insurance.
Scholars Green Student Village is located approximately 4.5 miles from our Waterside Campus and is serviced by a regular bus service, which is free to residents Monday to Friday during term time.
Accommodation prices start at £88 per week for a twin ensuite at Scholars Green Student Village and go up to £195 per week for a studio at Waterside. For students living in shared flats you’ll be sharing kitchen and living facilities with up to 24 other students, though flats with fewer rooms are also available.
The university also offers support and guidance if you’re looking to stay in privately rented accommodation in the city.

The University of Northampton offers a range of scholarships and bursaries which assist students financially. The aim is to ensure that ambitious, creative and academically gifted students who wish to broaden their opportunities through university education are not limited by their financial circumstances or backgrounds.
Home students with a household income of £25,000 or less are eligible for the Northampton Bursary of £400 from their second year of studies. All eligible home students currently receive a benefits package of a laptop, accommodation discount or catering credit in their first year of studies.
The Chancellor’s Fund, which takes applications three times a year, may support those who need modest awards of up to £750 to assist with extracurricular activities – voluntary or sporting – and wider training, travel bursaries, research and student projects. The Fund has previously helped students with their travel costs to allow them to take up volunteering opportunities and to offer support with new start-ups.
