I heard about the Open College of the Arts when I attended an open day at a local university. Immediately I was interested as I liked the idea of attending an art college and being able to complete the course in my own time. I initially signed up to a short course on Psychogeography after the original course I wanted to do was oversubscribed. I wanted to try out the virtual learning environment and get a feel for the experience before I committed. I really enjoyed learning online, so much so that I'm hoping to get a career in e-learning. The virtual learning environment is Moodle and I'm a big fan of it. I find it very intuitive - and I've even joined some Moodle courses because I want to learn all about it. My favourite part of learning at the Open College of the Arts is that I have had a lot of fun. I started a blog (which we are encouraged to use as a learning log) when I began my Photography module and through it I have been inspired to be more creative in my everyday. I have also been able to make friends through the various forums which allow for interdisciplinary collaboration. The only reason I am not continuing with Open College of the Arts is that their postgraduate offering does not interest me at the moment.

Absolutely appalling. I can’t even leave because no one ever replied to my emails and no one answers calls. Content is bad. Access and ease of use is ridiculous. It’s all online links that don’t work. The library is more complex than rocket science. No lectures of you are an audible learner it’s all read read read. No communication and my tutor was absolutely useless in every way. What a waste of thousands of pounds. I asked for help so many times to be passed to another department and then IGNORED and naturally the pandemic was the excuse. Like I say, can’t even withdraw
