BA (Hons) Electronic Music Production

University rating (5)

The student support team at dbs are great. They have always made time for me when I need it, by providing counselling in each year of my study so far, aswell as weekly academic and mental health support covered by my DSA. The facilities at DBS are great. The access to equipment and studios is unreal! The lecturers are very knowledgable, there's a lot to learn from them if you pick their brains.

BA (Hons) Electronic Music Production

University rating (4)

The facilities are amazing and I love where it's based in a central Bristol location. The staff are all very friendly, some a bit eccentric and maybe that can filter through too much in to class delivery sometimes, but the student support is great and easy to access, and despite not having halls they do host some good events to bring students together outside of class time.

dBs allows you to get very involved in the technical aspects of music as well as providing great spaces to produce, mix and record music. However, it sometimes feels like there aren’t enough spaces and things get booked up too quick. The small size of dBs allows for great individual attention in classes and for modules but this also means that there are less people for you to meet and less of a chance that you will ‘find your crowd’.

BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering

University rating (4)

The freedom for creativity is great; it’s very easy and also encouraged to tailor each module and lesson to your personal needs and interests, something that’s very important in music. The facilities are great and the accessibility to them is also good providing lots of opportunity outside of class to continue broadening your knowledge of industry standard equipment. Academic study and teaching could be more involved and encouraged throughout the course, the practical teaching is great though.

BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering

dBs is a fantastic institute with knowledgeable tutors/technicians. Plenty of support is available to all students and I feel like I have a voice. Its small size is both a blessing and a curse, as it allows more one on one time with tutors, but reduces the overall facilities.

Music production sound engineering

The facility’s are absolutely amazing, nearly all of the staff are genuinely caring about our education and development as engineers. They nearly always make time to answer personal questions outside of class. nearly all the classes are very tailored to student needs and interests. The classes are very interactive and stimulating. Although nearly all the course is self led, we may appreciate more class and in person lessons over the week.

Best facilities always get what you pay for, community inside the uni could be better. Not much social atmosphere, nor are the many nights set up by the institute or anything like that.

The tutors engagement with students is very good and there is a lot of opportunity for individual personalised help. The bad aspect is it can feel a little bit soulless at times but i have no suggestions to inprove that
