The university campus is set on a single site, not far from the city centre. It has an intimate feel, with the majority of the student accommodation found nestled among its mix of picturesque ivy-covered buildings, shiny multimillion-pound labs, modern library, and impressive lecture theatres.
Campus is located in The Avenues, a leafy area of Hull with excellent bars and cafés, as well as independent shops and services. Its convenient location means that students are never more than a short trip from the city centre. And with Hull recently rated the most affordable city in the UK (Numbeo, 2023), students can enjoy all these activities and amenities at very reasonable prices.

Full-time students can complete most of the university’s undergraduate degree programmes in three years, with some four-year courses also available.

Most undergraduate degrees are built around a modular system designed so that students can put together their own course using a series of study blocks or modules. Usually, six of these are taken per year. Some modules are compulsory, but many courses have optional elements, allowing students to customise their studies according to interests and ambitions.

English language
There is a minimum level of English language proficiency for international students for whom English is not a first language. Most undergraduate courses require students to have an overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0, with no lower than 5.5 in any band. However, specific criteria can vary between courses, so students are advised to check the English language requirements for their chosen course prior to application.
For students who do not meet the language requirements, the university offers a range of pre-sessional English language courses.

First-year students are guaranteed a room in university-owned or partnered accommodation if they apply by 1st October. Broadband, utility bills and contents insurance are included in the rent, and accommodation offers laundry facilities, indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, bike storage, 24/7 security and welfare support, and a communal cleaner.
There are three locations on campus: Westfield Court, The Courtyard, and Taylor Court, offering self-catered single and ensuite rooms, as well as one-bedroom apartments.
Prices range from £157 to £280 per week.
The University of Hull has invested £300 million in transforming its red-brick campus into a modern, cutting-edge learning and research environment.
Campus facilities include a world-class concert and performance hall, surround-sound cinema, industry-standard recording and rehearsing facilities, and the Gulbenkian Theatre.
In 2017, the award-winning Allam Medical Building was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, and the university’s sports centre features a new fitness suite, a dedicated strength and conditioning suite, a 12-court sports facility with indoor and outdoor pitches, and seating for 700 spectators.

Students at the University of Hull are able to access an excellent range of both academic and personal support during their time studying.
Students can access health and wellbeing services for a variety of reasons relating to life and academic studies, where a caring and committed team can provide a listening ear to offer support and advice in a safe, confidential ,and non-judgmental environment. For students with more complex difficulties, the team can help plan and coordinate support outside of the university, where needed.
The university’s skills team enables students to make use of a wide range of academic support, whether through attending interactive workshops, booking a one-to-one appointment with the skills team, or simply accessing the abundance of self-help material and resources available.
A financial support team is on hand to help students with any money stresses, including lending out short-term loans.
For disabled students and students with additional needs, a support team can provide advice and guidance, taking a holistic approach to any issues at hand. All services offered are tailored to individual needs.

Hull University Students’ Union is a charity run by a team of elected volunteers, for students by students.
The students’ union aims to help students during their time at the university by organising events and activities, supporting student needs and making sure students have a great time. Students automatically become a member when they enrol with the University of Hull.
The students’ union offers over 140 societies, including everything from big bands to board games, breakdancing to battle re-enactment, and plenty of sports teams. If a student’s interest isn’t represented by an existing society, students are supported to start up their own.
The vibrant, diverse city of Hull offers students annual festivals for film, comedy, jazz, photography, science, literature and music, alongside big-name events such as Freedom Festival and Humber Street Sesh. It also boasts one of the biggest free Pride events in the country.
Close to the university, the Avenues area features an abundance of bars, coffee shops and boutiques. Outside the city students can discover the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds and the sandy beaches of the East Coast.

Graduate employability is evident in the University of Hull’s employment statistics, which find that 95 per cent of its graduates are in work or further study within 15 months.
Employability is at the heart of the learning experience at the university. All academic programmes are regularly reviewed to ensure that they offer the opportunity for students to gain the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to prosper in the workplace. These attributes are recognised by the university’s Hull Employability Awards, which can be earned on top of degrees and stand as an endorsement of a student’s employability.
The university has produced thousands of dynamic graduates who have gone on to achieve success at the top of their game, across everything from commerce and politics to science and arts.
Careers service
Through the University of Hull’s Student Futures service, students benefit from a wide range of careers services, including placements, internships, work experience, support for entrepreneurship, volunteering opportunities and employer mentoring.
Students can also learn how to start their own business. The university’s Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Society will help to develop ideas, provide students with key skills such as project management and marketing, and put them in contact with established entrepreneurs.
The University of Hull offers bursaries and other financial awards that are accessible to eligible students.
Eligibility for financial aid varies between the individual awards, and details of eligibility criteria can be found on the specific page for each scholarship or bursary on the university website.

Domestic (UK) students
Tuition fees for undergraduate studies at the university are in line with national averages, coming in at £9,250 per academic year for full-time studies at undergraduate level. Fees for undergraduate studies may increase each year according to inflation. Any fees for students at the University of Hull will be in line with the maximum fees as set by the government.
International students
Standard tuition fees for international students are £16,500 per year for arts programmes and £19,500 for science courses for 2024 entry.

You'll be shocked by the number of clubs and societies on offer at University of Hull. There's something for everyone! As well as being able to pick different clubs and societies, most courses let you choose modules at different points through your degree.
As well as personalising your course through optional modules, you may have the chance to do a work placement during your studies. Developing your professional skills through work placements is a great way to add to your CV and boost your employability.
If you want a job you love (and who doesn't?), getting a job in a field you're passionate about is a great place to start. By studying a subject you really enjoy, you'll be qualified for a range of jobs relating to that subject, which you'll hopefully love.
For those who aren't ready to give up on education after an undergraduate degree, you'll have the opportunity to progress to postgraduate study such as a master's or even a PhD.
University of Hull's accommodation is designed to be as straightforward and stress-free as possible. All your bills are included in your rent, you'll have free WiFi and your rent also includes security and maintenance.
