Students are at the forefront of Newcastle’s vision for the future. Degree programmes are designed to ensure students are challenged and empowered to learn, while having space to experiment and discover new things.
Undergraduate degrees are three, four, or five years in length, depending on the subject. Students choose from over 185 courses – studying a single subject, broadening their focus with a Joint Honours degree, or blending two or three of over 20 courses to create their own Combined Honours programme. Over 300 postgraduate degrees are available.

Students are supported as they settle into academic life by their personal tutor and a peer mentor – a trained student volunteer who can share their experiences.
The academic skills team offer an online skills kit, support good academic practice, research skills development and exam preparation. Maths Aid drop-in sessions focus on numeracy, maths and statistics support.
Free In-sessional English courses help international students improve their English language skills, including academic writing and presentation, and a language resource centre offers distance and online learning resources, as well as self-study materials in over 100 languages.

Almost all undergraduate degrees are available with the opportunity to spend 9 to 12 months in the workplace; many degrees contain an integrated year-long work placement. You'll be shocked by the number of clubs and societies on offer at Newcastle University. There's something for everyone! As well as being able to pick different clubs and societies, most courses let you choose modules at different points through your degree.
As well as personalising your course through optional modules, you may have the chance to do a work placement during your studies. Developing your professional skills through work placements is a great way to add to your CV and boost your employability.
If you want a job you love (and who doesn't?), getting a job in a field you're passionate about is a great place to start. By studying a subject you really enjoy, you'll be qualified for a range of jobs relating to that subject, which you'll hopefully love.
For those who aren't ready to give up on education after an undergraduate degree, you'll have the opportunity to progress to postgraduate study such as a master's or even a PhD.
