100% online MSc Psychology of Mental Health and Wellbeing

University rating (1)

My ratings are for the online psychology masters, a bridging course. FIND ANOTHER PLACE IF STUDY. The flexibility is fantastic. However the online offering is dismal, really just an afterthought. Lectures are basic and actually poorly delivered through short simplistic videos. They provide no depth whatsoever and are mostly very dull. There are so few of them. The marking is another issue. Get ready to spend a great deal of your time disputing glaring marking discrepancies. Markers often mark against incorrect criteria. They offer zero feedback even after being asked. To get helpful feedback you have to escalate. Even then you get ‘reviews’ responses saying everything is fine and you’re wrong. An example is where we wrote an assignment and were told not to reference anything but the code of conduct. I have actual proof of this. Still got marked down because of a lack of referencing outside of the code of conduct. After weeks of escalation the reply is: we have looked and the marking is correct. If you’re not happy escalate further. This course has been so painful, besides working and studying I have found that I actually do not have time for this permanent escalation drag. Thus this review.

Criminology and Criminal Justice BA (Hons)

University rating (5)

The best aspects of university include opportunities for intellectual growth and exploration. There’s access to a range of diverse resources to engage in hands on research and practical experiences to enhance my career prospects. Social life is rich and is definitely one of the best things about uni! I have met people from various backgrounds and cultures which had helped me broaden my perspective and increase my confidence. The worst aspects of uni life is probably something that is not often mentioned - the competitive nature of university which sometimes makes me feel inadequate and have a little imposter syndrome, especially as I sometimes have financial and environmental constraints which cause me to not have an equal chance at achieving my potential.

I would like say the Staff..the students are amazing people in my Fine art class. The feel of Wolverhampton is Free and beautiful. The town of Wolverhampton have some lovely people within and outside the University with a lot of things to offer. I am so happy to be studying at this beautiful institution and I am happy with the support and help from my tutors. My fellow students we are like a close knit family reaching our goals encouraging one another where and when it is required. Also at University of Wolverhampton.. age is no barrier or culture etc as we are all here to gain and learn and then put something back into our communities. I am thankful for this lovely place and I am happy to be studying here. University of Wolverhampton is oozing with great potential, so don't allow nothing to hold you back from studying at Wolves.

Biological Sciences BSc (Hons)

University rating (4)

The good: * The main campus is in a great spot, right in the centre of the city. * On site coffee and cafeteria serves decent, reasonably priced food. * Supermarkets close to campus and halls. * The teaching rooms and facilities are clean, tidy, and plentiful. * Free transport to Walsall and Telford campuses. * Help is always on hand to those who ask for it. * Community feel. lecturers are friendly, understanding, and want the best for all students. The bad: * The timetable department is not always the best organised, a couple of times lectures have been moved, or held in unsuitable rooms, without even telling lecturers. * Wolverhampton isn't the most exciting city for clubs and nightlife. However, the SU bar has recently reopened, and is regularly putting on events, which is nice. * Walsall and Telford campuses are literally miles away, making some lectures tricky to get to.

PhD Postgraduate research in Psychology

University rating (4)

The staff are absolutely fab at the uni. As a disabled student, I've had so much support from my supervisors, they've been amazing. The doctoral college is also great and their communication is always quick and easy. The facilities are good, the psychology lab techs are brilliant, but we could do with some new facilities - I also always end up in meetings in the basement, which doesn't have much natural light so it can get a bit depressing!
