Our collection of real, honest student reviews of unis and courses is the largest in the UK, and helps you make well-informed decisions about your future. The facilities are generally well advertised for our use as students. My lecturers are very accommodating and knowledgeable about their subject interest.
I have a very packed day during my day-release every Friday. Only on a few occasions have the lecturers not attended without contacting us prior to the time, giving us a gap of around 3 hours between lecturers after making the effort to travel to Sunderland from Darlington.
The lecturers are helpful and keep finding new ways to engage the students. The are of improvement is to ensure the flow of information in a proper and effective way.
Best Aspect: Flexibility and Accessibility One of the best aspects is their flexibility and accessibility. Learners can access course materials at their own pace, from the comfort of their homes, and often fit their studies around other commitments. This makes education more accessible to a wider audience, including those who may have work or family obligations. Area of improvement: Lack of Clarity Around Placements and Internships One significant drawback is uncertainty or lack of clear pathways regarding placements and internships.
Definitely the friendliest university I have visited!
All in person lectures and not online which is really good!
Located not too far from the centre which is good and nice that there’s a bus to get to uni from there

The life-changing University of Sunderland is indeed LIFE-CHANGING! I could remember when I was making my application to study at the University of Sunderland, I was full of uncertainties but having been here for a while, I think I made the best decision of my life. From the state-of-the-art facilities which it boasts of including the modern library (both online and physical), the expert staff who are always willing to help, the university administration and organization, the amazing lecture theatres; even the lovely and welcoming students and student union. The location of the University campuses are the best and couldn't have been situated anywhere better. The courses which they offer to students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels are unique and meticulously selected (with amazing module contents I must say) such that the students are well equipped to be the best in the society. The various support networks available in the University to assist students to be the best in their academics, personal, religious and social life including mental health are top-notch and effective. A lot of activities are periodically organized for the students by the student union and various associations and societies such that there is never a dulling moment in student life. The periodic job fares, indoor and outdoor games and diverse events being organized at the CitySpace and other locations in the various University campuses are quite thoughtful, engaging and effective in impacting the lives of students and creating a positive experience. To me, the University of Sunderland is not just life-changing, it is both the University of the Moment and the Institution of the Future. Thank you the life-changing University of Sunderland for giving me an opportunity to have this beautiful experience while being your student.
The life-changing University of Sunderland has received numerous honors, one of which is for having the best teaching standards. The instructors are well qualified for their positions and maintain current knowledge of both teaching and research. The amount of time allotted for instruction is always sufficient, and the university offers extra periods during the week for students to virtually drop in and speak with their instructors about any issues they may have about anything covered in class. It's also important to mention that every student is paired with a personal academic tutor upon enrollment who will provide pastoral support and supervision for the duration of their stay. The university's courses are of the highest caliber and are expertly designed to impart as much knowledge as possible to students, giving them the tools they need to succeed in the wider world. The staff at Sunderland Futures takes pride in informing students about current opportunities that are available for them to pursue at any time. This includes reviewing resumes and providing advice on job applications. Based on their activities, strong commitment, inclusivity, and contributions to the university and students, the alumni association of this university is the greatest in the world. Because the university prepares every student to be the greatest wherever and whenever, I am aware that every graduate is optimistic about their professional possibilities. The University of Sunderland is simply the best and will remain the best because it has been systematically and meticulously organized to remain so.
As a student at the University of Sunderland, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The university offers a diverse range of well-structured academic programs, providing me with valuable knowledge and skills for my chosen field. The faculty members demonstrate a genuine commitment to student success, fostering a supportive learning environment (an example being the feed forward targets on every assignment to help me improve on the next). The campus facilities are modern and well-maintained, offering state-of-the-art resources for both academic and extracurricular activities. I appreciate the university's dedication to diversity and inclusion, creating an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates students from various backgrounds (as an international student, i have benefited a lot in other to deal with culture shock). The availability of support services, including excellent academic advising and career counseling, has been instrumental in my personal and academic development (i have also enjoyed the one - on - one study skills appointment with library officials). Furthermore, the university's intervention through the English for Academic Purpose modules have shaped and made my learning process easier as an international student. Overall, the University of Sunderland has exceeded my expectations, providing a comprehensive and enriching educational experience.
The best aspect of my course taught in class is undoubtedly the engaging and knowledgeable faculty. The tutors bring real-world expertise to the classroom, making complex concepts more accessible and relevant. Their passion for the subject matter creates a dynamic learning environment, fostering stimulating discussions and encouraging critical thinking. The interactive nature of the classes enhances my understanding and allows for practical application of theoretical concepts. On the flip side, a notable challenge is the occasional inconsistency in the pacing of the curriculum. Some topics feel rushed, while others are extensively covered, leading to a less balanced learning experience. Addressing this issue by ensuring a more uniform distribution of content and perhaps incorporating additional resources could further enhance the overall quality of the course. Despite this drawback, the positive impact of the dedicated faculty makes the learning experience valuable and enjoyable.
Sunderland, as a city, provides a unique blend of history, culture, and a welcoming community. Nestled along the scenic coastline, the city offers picturesque views and a refreshing sea breeze. Sunderland's rich maritime heritage is evident in its historic landmarks, such as the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, which showcase the city's past while embracing contemporary arts and exhibits. The city center boasts a diverse range of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, contributing to a lively urban atmosphere. The warmth of the local community is noteworthy, with friendly residents adding to the overall sense of belonging. While Sunderland has seen positive development in recent years, including the transformation of its waterfront, there is potential for further growth in terms of infrastructure and green spaces. Despite any challenges, Sunderland stands as a city with a distinct character, offering a balance between tradition and modernity, making it an inviting place to live and explore.
Location is great for me and the university made me feel welcome during induction Nothing to improve
Learning is great and contact with lecturers is fantastic Could be improved by blending assignment work into lessons and giving students assignment details prior to lectures
Keep things up to date and repair things right away when broken, such as the ventilation system in the downstairs Fleming labs. Other than that nice campus, most lecturers very good, good that lectures are still recorded for revision purposes.
Some lecturers don't follow the rule on how long it should take before responding, I have no experience in work placement or internships.
