GET PROSPECTUSStudents looking to study at undergraduate level at Sunderland will require UCAS points, which can be taken from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A Levels, T Levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate. Equivalent qualifications are accepted providing they meet the same criteria.

Each of the halls are fully self-catered. This means that they have their own kitchen facilities, allowing students the opportunity to develop life skills and meet new people in shared environments. Rent includes all utility bills, high-speed internet access and personal possession insurance, while an on-site laundry room is shared amongst the halls.
Some rooms have shared bathroom facilities although many are en-suite for those who prefer their own space. Students can choose the size of room they require, with some offering picturesque river views.

The Sciences Complex is a dedicated facility with research and teaching laboratories. The complex is also home to the Living Lab which replicates real contemporary care environments.
The CitySpace is the University’s iconic facility for sports and social activity on City Campus which has a vast array of fantastic services available, including a fully-equipped gym, strength and conditioning room, climbing wall, injury prevention suite and sports hall.
The Reg Vardy Centre is home to the business, law and tourism facilities including the Marketing Hub, a courtroom and moot court. The centre also houses the Law Clinic where students deal with real clients/cases under the supervision of a qualified solicitor.
At the David Puttnam Media Centre, students will be able to take advantage of fantastic facilities and professional equipment such as a 4K-UHD virtual studio, new studio lighting and a Spark Sunderland radio station.
The David Goldman Technology Centre hosts a range of laboratories containing high-tech computing equipment, such as the newly renovated Game Development lab and the Networks and Cybersecurity lab. Students are fully supported by the university during their studies, with various facilities offered to ensure they are able to complete their course comfortably, without being disadvantaged by outside factors.
The health and wellbeing service provides students with access to doctors and counsellors to provide physical and mental health support throughout their time at Sunderland.
Students with children are able to access the university’s childcare services. Full and part-time childcare is offered to students with children under five years’ old, while there is a play scheme for anyone with children of school age up to 12 years’ old during the school holidays.
Care experienced students can access additional help and bespoke support from the dedicated We Care Team, while the Disability Support Team provide a confidential service to students whose disability or condition has an impact on how they study and learn.

Health and Clinical Sciences
The university’s health and clinical courses are supported by contemporary, well-funded learning facilities that ensure students have access to all the tools they need. Students will also benefit from the institution’s close contacts with employers in hospitals and community care settings.
The Students' Union (SU) at the University of Sunderland is run by students for students and is a separate organisation from the university.
At the SU students can find a variety of opportunities, support and events to take part in. The SU is made up of the Exec Team which includes three full-time paid sabbatical officers and six part-time volunteer non-sabbatical officers.
It is important that students’ voices are heard at university, which is where the SU comes in. It’s a service designed to support students through their academic journey. Any students who are having problems with their course, or a dispute with either the faculty or other students, can make use of the SU for resources, information and guidance.
The SU also provides various locations for students to unwind together, either in a social capacity or when studying and working together in groups.
The University of Sunderland has over 50 clubs and societies that students can join to enhance their student experience. It’s where people can meet others with similar interests, ensuring they are able to properly relax in their downtime and also develop wider skills that can be useful in future employment, such as teamwork and communication.
Various sports are available for those with a preference for active meet ups, including handball, rowing, dance and judo. Societies are more varied, and include things such as ‘Connect’, a social club with regular activities around the area, and the New Creative Society that specialises in creative writing.
Students are sure to find something that suits them amongst the range of sports clubs and societies offered, whether that’s a fun activity like the Games Club, or a more energetic pursuit aimed at competition and fitness.
Sunderland offers students the perfect combination of urban and coastal living, and is widely regarded as a friendly, diverse and great value place to live and study. The vast majority of students progress into either employment or further study upon completion of their degree, and are set for immediate success with a Sunderland diploma.
Throughout students’ time at the university, they will enjoy a number of supportive measures tailored towards employability, including job fairs and networking events. Sunderland Futures is the department driving this, also offering industry placements and online services such as building a CV and personality tests that can help students find a job that suits their skillset.
Many courses have placements embedded into the study programme by default, so students will gain real-world experience in their chosen field. Once students graduate, they have access to the university’s career services for up to three years.

The annual tuition fee for undergraduate students at the University of Sunderland, who are from the UK, is GBP £9,250 for a full-time course. Anyone on a part-time schedule will pay GBP £6,935 per 120 credits.
International students have higher fees of GBP £13,000 for 2022/23 entry and GBP £14,000 for 2023/24 entry, but they are also eligible for a GBP £1,500 scholarship to support them. There is no need to apply, it is automatically given as a fee waiver to reduce the total owed.
Students who are enrolled at a partner college and are then applying for a top-up course at the University of Sunderland will pay different fees again, depending on the nature of their course.
All students can seek advice on financial matters from the university and the students’ union, including details on any additional funding support. The SU can also help students to find flexible employment around their study hours to help pay for fees and living costs.

As well as personalising your course through optional modules, you may have the chance to do a work placement during your studies. Developing your professional skills through work placements is a great way to add to your CV and boost your employability.
If you want a job you love (and who doesn't?), getting a job in a field you're passionate about is a great place to start. By studying a subject you really enjoy, you'll be qualified for a range of jobs relating to that subject, which you'll hopefully love.
For those who aren't ready to give up on education after an undergraduate degree, you'll have the opportunity to progress to postgraduate study such as a master's or even a PhD.
