As Year 13 students edge closer to taking the next step after college or sixth form and Year 12 students prepare to buckle down for exams and coursework in their final year, plenty of sixth formers will be thinking about the future and what they’ll be doing when A-levels are over. Our student blogger Holly spoke to nine students about the goals they’re hoping to achieve...

Gemma

Gemma Aitchison

"My main goal for next year is to work hard! Hopefully that will pay off come results day, and I also want to do as well as I can! I want the grades that will get me into uni or results that I know I worked hard for, with no regrets looking back. I’d be happy going to any of my five choices, but preferably Bristol. The career I aspire to is to hopefully become a vet or vet nurse, depending on my results!"

Rachael

"My main goal is to travel, get some work experience and decide what I want to do at uni. I want my results to reflect the hard work I put in, and which allow me to get into a good uni. I don't know what uni I want to go to yet! I have visited some universities though and so far my favourite has been Leeds. In the future I might want to go into sociology-based career."

Emma

Emma Dyer

"My main goals are to get good grades and have an enjoyable experience with friends that I will remember in the future. The results I need are AAB to get into the university I'd like to go to, which is the University of South Wales. In the future I aspire to become a psychologist!"

Wallis

Wallis Moore

"I want to achieve good grades to enable me to study the course I want at my favourite university. I wish to get good enough grades to meet the requirements of my desired university. I would love to attend the University of Glasgow or the University of St Andrews (so mostly Scotland). I would love to be a dentist. However, even though it sounds cheesy, my main goal is to be happy and healthy."

Mel

Mel Vijayakumar

"My goal for the future is to become more independent. I want sixth form to help me be prepared for uni. I really wish to be able to go to a university of my choice with my results and do the best I can. In the future I’d love to go into a career in languages, possibly teaching as this is where my passion lies."

Georgie

Georgie Bryant

"In the future I wish to make a difference and do some good in the world, even if that is for just one person, so people will remember me. I really want to get AAB at least in my results so I have the chance to get into the universities I've applied for. I'd love to go to Warwick University but all the other ones I've applied for seem great too! In the future... who knows. I want to take a languages degree so I see myself hopefully travelling a lot and speaking the languages I study. I'd love to be able to translate or interpret for a big firm somewhere or for the UN. However, becoming a languages teacher is my back up option!"

Joe

Joe Paddon

"I really want to make the most of life – have a rewarding job, travel the world and be happy. This year, I have so far achieved good grades and good friends! I really want to get into my first choice university. I want to go hopefully anywhere I’ve applied – the majority of them are in London. In the future, I’d like to either to go into academia or to go into the legal profession."

Mallory

Mallory Tovey

"In the future I’d love to help others and give them the support they deserve. I want to come away from Sixth Form feeling like I've had an amazing two years, got some really great friends and also learnt to balance education and a social life, feeling prepared for university! I would like to get my results and be happy with them, no matter what they are, knowing I've done the best I could. I would like to go to either Plymouth or Coventry University, and currently I aspire to be a clinical psychologist, working with children and young people."

Holly

"My main goals in life are to be happy, and make a difference in some way or the other. Sixth form has really guided me towards the career I wish to pursue in the future, which is journalism. I want my grades to reflect how much hard work I have put in to achieve them, and would be happy to go to a number of universities, including Leeds, Sheffield, Bournemouth, Winchester and South Wales. Ideally I would inform the world of the goings on they weren’t aware of, and open people’s eyes."
