From partying to making brand new friends, these students have a very clear idea about what the best thing about uni is going to be.

At Skills Cymru we asked students what they thought the best thing about university is going to be. Their answers were all very different…

Making new friends

A popular answer amongst students was meeting new people and making friends.

There's a whole host of ways to expand your friendship circle at uni, from forming friendships with the people in your halls to meeting people with common hobbies in a uni club or society, or just saying "nice outfit" to someone at a freshers event. Although make sure you don't forget about your friends back home too!

The social aspect

While of course the academic side of university is important, you won't spend the whole three years in the lecture hall and library (despite what you may tell your parents to make them worry about you less!).

Joining university societies, exploring the local area and spending far too much time and money in the students' union is a big part of the university experience, so it's no wonder that students told us they're already really excited about it.

Student discounts

One of the many perks of being a student is the discount that your newly acquired student status gives you. From money off clothes in high street retailers and supermarket chains, to cheaper cinema tickets and even free food at McDonalds! The world is now your slightly cheaper oyster!

Parties

One of the many ways to meet people outside of both your lecture and accommodation halls at university is at parties during freshers week. Here you'll meet people from outside your course, who might not live nearby and who might not have joined the same societies as you either. Basically you'll meet friends who you have nothing in common with here but you like them anyway.

Living

One of the more shy students told us they were just excited to be living a student life. From attending lectures and learning tons more about a brand new subject, to meeting people from different parts of the world and joining new societies, they were excited about every aspect of being a university student.

The girls

Of course there's always one person who answers this question like this... in fact at this event there were two students with this answer.

There is definitely more to university than girls though, just saying.
