USW has five campuses located across south Wales in Newport, Cardiff and Pontypridd. GET PROSPECTUSStudents who wish to undertake undergraduate courses at the University of South Wales are generally required to hold Level 3 qualifications, such as A-level, BTEC, Access to Higher Education or an Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate. USW also accepts a range of equivalent qualifications and will consider combinations of prior qualifications accordingly. Entry requirements vary on a course-by-course basis. Some undergraduate courses at USW may require subject specific pre-requisite qualifications, in addition to GCSE requirements. Prospective students should check individual undergraduate course pages for specific entry requirements for each course.
USW believes in access to university education for students from all backgrounds. As such, the university practices a contextual admissions policy and considers eligible applicants on an individual basis. Under this policy, USW may make a personalised offer based on aspects of the UCAS application. ASK A QUESTIONThere are dedicated halls of residence at all three of USW’s Cardiff, Newport and Pontypridd campuses. Undergraduate students are able to choose between campus living or a city centre experience. Many undergraduate students opt to live in Cardiff, even if they study at a different campus. There are several student halls in the city centre, as well as a wide range of private rentals. Halls at Pontypridd are located on campus and foster a close-knit community atmosphere. At Newport, private halls are just a couple of minutes’ walk from campus and right on the bank of the River Usk.

The University of South Wales is committed to ensuring the wellbeing and academic success of its students. USW offers a range of student support services to ensure that every student is able to make the most out of their time at the university. There is a library on every campus at USW providing a range of study services and academic resources. Study skills tutorials are also offered to all students through dedicated study skills tutors.
There are also specialist Advice Zones on each campus which are designed to help students with personal or academic difficulties. At Advice Zones, students can access USW’s wellbeing service for counselling and free advice, as well as talk directly with trained student mentors who can answer questions and address any issues students may be facing. At USW, students also have access to the university’s student money advice team and a disability service, which provide individual support plans and services for students. There is also a health service available to all students at the university, in addition to a playcentre based at USW Pontypridd and a multi-faith chaplaincy.

BOOK OPEN DAYAt the University of South Wales, students are given myriad opportunities to learn both inside and outside the traditional classroom. Work experience is a major part of all courses at USW, and industry focused learning is a central component of a curriculum designed to ensure future career success. USW’s industry partners help shape the university’s courses to ensure that they reflect the latest in industry demands. Many of the degrees at USW are accredited by professional bodies and some of USW’s courses have a year of work experience (a ‘sandwich year’) built in.
There is also the option to combine work and study at USW through degree apprenticeships, in addition to the well-established Network75 scheme. Students on Network75 combine work and study, with tuition fees paid in full by their host employer. Subject areas which form part of the Network75 scheme include engineering, surveying, computing, business, accounting, and law.
USW also has a dedicated careers team to help students find career-related work experience in the UK and overseas. The USW careers team provides a range of support services to undergraduate students which include CV writing workshops, careers mentoring, interview tips and skill development sessions.

There are a number of funding options available to undergraduate students at USW. The £1,000 USW Progression Bursary is open to college students who choose to top-up their USW accredited HND or foundation degree to a full honours degree, through a full-time top up course at a USW campus.
The USW Gwent Bursary is offered to students who reside at a NP postcode at the time of applying for a course at USW and have been offered and accepted a place at the university.
The USW Sport Scholarship is available to students performing to a high standard in sport and representing the university in the BUCS league. It is designed to support potentially elite athletes and sports people who are competing junior national or international level in their sport.

Generally, UK students undertaking an undergraduate honours degree can expect to pay £9,000 per year in tuition fees at USW. Fees may vary on a course-by-course basis, however, so prospective students should consult the university’s fees and funding page for the most up-to-date fee information.
