ASK A QUESTIONThere are over 2,000 halls of residence places at the University of Brighton. University halls can range in price from £153 to £227 per week. There is a mix of catered and self-catered accommodation at the university, all of which have shared communal areas and a kitchen.
Brighton also manages and lets houses to its students on behalf of private landlords. This arrangement allows students to live in the private sector while having the security of paying rent to the university. Students can also access the university’s database of approved privately rented properties to find suitable accommodation. There is, additionally, a supportive homestay scheme operated by the university where students live in the home of a local host.

Student mental health, wellbeing, and safety is of paramount importance to the University of Brighton. Diversity and inclusion are at the centre of all of Brighton’s activities and the university offers a range of support services designed to help students from the day they arrive on campus.
Everyday support services at Brighton include accommodation support, financial support, academic support tutors, and specialist student advisors.

There are a range of confidential support services available at the university for mental health issues. In addition to in-person counselling, there is the online mental health support service Togetherall. The University of Brighton’s Students’ Union (SU) is home to over 100 societies. There is truly something for everyone, whatever their interests. There are over 60 sports clubs, as well as special interest societies and an array of welcoming political, religious, and cultural groups.
Brighton is a diverse and energetic city which hosts cultural events and festivals all year round. The city is home to a fantastic array of independent shops and cafes, great restaurants, galleries, music venues and nightlife. Students at Brighton benefit from a robust model of practice-based learning which prioritises the cultivation of professional skillsets. All undergraduate courses offer opportunities for work-related learning, whether it’s a short placement, community volunteering or a year in industry.
Many undergraduate courses at Brighton are developed in collaboration with industry partners. These partnerships ensure that students graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue career specialisms. A number of vocational undergraduate courses at the university are also accredited by professional bodies.
At Brighton, 91.4% of the university’s graduates are in work or further study within 15 months of graduating, with 80.6% of graduates entering highly skilled professional roles (Graduate Outcomes Survey, 2023). The university ranks in the top 30% of graduate earnings (three years after graduating, Longitudinal Education Outcomes, 2022).
Additionally, the university’s careers service provides a range of career planning support services to complement regular course content. Careers centres are located on all of Brighton’s campuses, providing guidance, mentoring, and a range of development sessions throughout the year.
The university offers its students a variety of scholarship and bursary options to help them cover the costs associated with studying.
University of Brighton bursaries are allocated to eligible students who are most in need of financial support. These bursaries are intended to be used to help cover the cost of course fees, accommodation, books, and additional study-related costs. Brighton also offers a range of scholarships which recognise and reward academic and sporting merit. Courses fees vary on a course-by-course basis at the University of Brighton. For the 2024/25 academic year, UK/EU full-time undergraduate students can currently expect to pay £9,250 per year for their courses. For international undergraduate students, current tuition fees start at £15,900 per year for undergraduate courses.
Some courses also include the option of a salaried placement year. Salaried placement years have a £1,500 arrangement fee per year for UK/EU students to cover set up costs and ongoing support from the university. For international students, placement year arrangement fees are £2,280 per year.

You'll be shocked by the number of clubs and societies on offer at University of Brighton. There's something for everyone! As well as being able to pick different clubs and societies, most courses let you choose modules at different points through your degree.
As well as personalising your course through optional modules, you may have the chance to do a work placement during your studies. Developing your professional skills through work placements is a great way to add to your CV and boost your employability.
If you want a job you love (and who doesn't?), getting a job in a field you're passionate about is a great place to start. By studying a subject you really enjoy, you'll be qualified for a range of jobs relating to that subject, which you'll hopefully love.
For those who aren't ready to give up on education after an undergraduate degree, you'll have the opportunity to progress to postgraduate study such as a master's or even a PhD.
University of Brighton's accommodation is designed to be as straightforward and stress-free as possible. All your bills are included in your rent, you'll have free WiFi and your rent also includes security and maintenance.
