Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
Overall, university has been a rocky ride! I struggled to settle in first year, but through that I tried so mamy amazing things and met some great people. Ive worked for the SU for two years and it was one of the best decisions I made, I got to meet ao many kind people who were interested in the things I was interested in, and everything became a lot easier. Have friends on every corner of the campus made it feel like a home. Ive loved every second of my course, and now I'm in my final I can hardly believe where the time has gone. Coming to Nottinfham Trent University has made me a better me than I could have ever imagined, both academically and socially, and the experiences and friends I've made will stay with me for years to come.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
All the facilities are light, airy and nice to be in. There's places to relax on campus as well as socialise with friends, goos study spaces, a choice of several food outlets and a great estate which is awesome in summer for walks and outdoor revising.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Excellent. I've always recieved useful feedback on my assessments which has allowed me to improve them in future. Lecturers are always more than happy to answer questions whatever time of night or day, or sit and have a coffee with you if youre not in a great place. The wider support has also been great, I've managed to get support for assessments and exams due to an injury, and counselling was offered within a few weeks of me requesting it.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
Very good. They hold a wide range of events for different kinds of entertainment, and provide lots of activities that are relaxing alongside club nights which are inclusive to everyone.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
The campus is reasonably close to a village at the bottom of a hill, where there are shops, pubs, doctors surgery, multiple churches, a leisure centre and more.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
My campus is onr of the smallest at my univserity, so we dont get the variety I would like. However, the societies that are present are very active, and with enough interest its easy to start up your own sports team or society.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
What I like most is that my lecturers are passionate, enaging and supporrive of every student that walks in the door. Their enthusiasm for rhe subjects are contagious and here is always a warm atmosphere. There is a good divide between practical application and theoretical learning, which just makes it easier to understand the content. The course is very broad so if something doesnt spark interest in you, another aspect of it certainly will. It also means we are able to work and have an input into other industries. Lastly, we've had lots of fieldtrips, including Spain!
More sessions could have been dedicated for learning complex industry software, but beaidea rhat there are very few thingas I dislike about the course.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
14
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
My university has a dedicated employability team that are available ariund the clock to help with anything and everything. There are also free workshops you can book onto that they run. Nearly all the courses offer a four year option so you can spend a year on work placement or doing an internship, and several modules actively incorporate employability skills into them.
