I love university of Portsmouth, and I think the free testing they have provided since October makes me feel safe whenever I am on campus. I love the nightlife in Portsmouth and I enjoyed meeting new people through my course and through societies. I look forward to better times at uni without covid.

Library is huge, and open during covid. Lots of labs and lots of equipment that can be used, due to covid it is unavailable. Our department has its own institute in Eastney.

We have tutor every other week, they check up on you and how you're getting on with work. This really helps because it is nice to gain support especially through covid times.

I went to the student union once for a vintage clothes event. I also went to freshers faire which was amazing!

Transport is good, lots of buses, bike lanes, and 3 near by train stations. Lots of clubs which was brilliant before covid. Also lots of clothes shops and big supermarkets, as well as cheap food shops e.g. Lidl.

Lots of societies, I joined Volleyball as a beginner and loved it. I then joined scuba diving society! Very social and very friendly people.

Due to lockdown 3, all lectures are posted online to moodle, to complete within the week. We also have zoom meetings, normally workshops that are based off the lectures. Before lockdown in October, we had in person lectures and online, so you could choose whether to go into uni or not.

There are lots of work events, and a careers department that will look through your CV and create practise interviews.

Room size is tiny, but bearable to live within. The housing company we are with is shocking, we have mould and mushrooms growing all over our bathroom. We pay £95 a week which is expensive but seemed to be one of the cheapest shared houses in portsmouth.

Overall, I would give my experience 5 stars. Perhaps it is because I prefer to spend time alone that I give the rating 5 stars, or perhaps it is because the opportunities, facilities, services, and education offered to me were superb. Of course, due to the pandemic, a lot of time was spent online rather than in person. However, I actually enjoyed learning the module materials online. It allowed me to go at my own pace. I live on campus too, and being away from home and essentially living alone gave myself a new sense of maturity and responsibility that I couldn’t have gotten otherwise. Overall, my experience has been positive and has helped me via the responsibility it has given me and the education it has provided me with.

The only University facility that I have used is the Library, and it was very clean and easy to use. It had many student studying inside and contained arrows on the floor to show you where to go to get the correct book for your course.

Emails such as mental health support and wellbeing emails are sent to all students every week or so. Support is consistently available for students who may be having a hard time or are struggling to stay mentally healthy while at the University of Portsmouth. Mental health emails include tips on how to manage mental health and offer support in the form of speaking to a professional as well. And, of course, if you are having any troubles with mental health or wellbeing, your tutor or perhaps anyone of your lecturers are their to provide support.

The course is taught mainly online, with prerecorded lectures every week for each of the 6 modules. Contact with tutors can be any time of the day, just send an email to them. For that reason, I give this course 5 stars. I have been provided much academic support and much help from lecturers, my tutor, and other university students.

Every week there were guest speakers giving lectures about topics that intrigue us and help us choose what career path we’d want. Emails are sent to all regarding job opportunities both locally and across the country, or perhaps internationally. Joining the facebook group for the course your on also provides you with more job opportunities, as course leaders and lecturers post many job opportunities inside the group. Internships are also posted both on the group and on newsletters in emails, that are sent to all.
