Point Blank was a first choice for me in terms of what Uni’s I wanted to apply for. I would say their facilities are brilliant: the studios and equipment are beyond what I was expecting, especially the mixing desks and DJ rooms. The general vibe with PB is friendly and relaxed, which I feel comes from the size of the Uni. Although there aren’t as many students as there would be in some of the major London Uni’s, I feel this makes the experience more personal. I’ve managed to get to know loads of people within my course and have had the chance to get to know the lecturers more as well. I feel the only thing I would say needs some improvement is the student societies. These comments come from those who are actively engaging in societies and have set one up (I have only joined one for networking possibilities). I think some students find they’re able to create one but get a bit lost with ideas and feel some more support or guidance from the Uni would make the societies more engaging.

My first year was taught entirely online due to COVID-19. Despite this I feel the Uni done well to accommodate these changes. The second year (current) has definitely been better. Face-to-face lessons are much better. It gives you the opportunity to talk to your peers properly and it’s 100% more engaging. I’ve enjoyed 90% of the course content during my time at PB. Not only are the lessons informative, but the VLE is really useful and a brilliant asset. I wasn’t expecting to get so much course support when I joined so the VLE is definitely a plus. Overall, the teaching quality is great. I don’t really have any improvement points to make on this!

I don’t live in the same area as my Uni so I can’t entirely comment on the cost of living; however, being London it can be quite expensive in general. I know that PB offer some opinions on private student halls and landlords to help students who are looking to move which is great. There’s plenty of buses going down the main road where the Uni is situation and I haven’t had any issues with transportation (unless there’s a tube strike!). I picked this Uni because of its quality and location. I feel for what we are being taught, London is the perfect place to network and connect with people and get an idea of future job prospects.

Academic knowledge is important but the great thing from my experience studying at Point Blank Music School that sets it apart is the care they take for you to succeed and achieve your potential. You are constantly encouraged to push your limits, explore all avenues and put everything into practice at industry standards. I only have great things to say. All the content is very well planned and structured. Sessions with tutors being classes and 1-2-1 sessions are a gold mine of information and every tutor has always been extremely well prepared and helped so much.
